How do I access my Windows NTFS partition from Linux ?

Step 1.
Install rpmforge-release package. Download it from DAG (http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/rpmforge-release/).

Step 2.

yum install fuse fuse-ntfs-3g dkms dkms-fuse

Step 3.
Mount your ntfs volume. /dev/sdc5 is my ntfs partition.

mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sdc5 /mnt/win_c

Enjoy!

Thanks to Ibrahim for this quick tip.

Thanks a lot!!! This was really helpful for people who use MS Windows and any Linux distribution on the same PC.

But I have a question: Do I have to mount the partition everytime I start the PC? How am I going to get the computer mount automatically without writing commands?

Thanks…

No, you don’t have to. You can make your NTFS volume mounted during booting by adding a line like the following to the /etc/fstab file;

/dev/sdc5 /mnt/win_c ntfs-3g defaults 0 0

What you are saying is, whatever I write to /etc/fstab file, it is going to be run while booting and applied to the system… It does not have to be a mounting operation?
